Pakistan, Russia concur on renaming gas pipeline project

Pakistan and Russia conceded to Friday to change the name of the North-South Gas Pipeline Project to “Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline” in a convention arrangement endorsed in Moscow.

The Pakistani mission in Moscow tweeted that Pakistan and Russia have marked a convention on the corrections to the concurrence on North-South Gas Pipeline Project.

The understanding was endorsed by Pakistani agent Shafqat Ali Khan and Russia’s Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov.

“The pipeline will run from Karachi to Kasur for transportation of gas. The Project is a leader key endeavor among Pakistan and Russia and will fortify reciprocal participation,” said the mission.

The Pakistan consulate says that Islamabad needs a “essential organization” with Moscow and “anticipates upgraded reciprocal relations in all fields of common interest”.

The North-South Gas Pipeline project got another push after Russia gave it another design a year ago in November. The Russian Ministry of Energy has offered TMK and ETK with its state-possessed organization Federal State Unitary Enterprises (FSUE).

As per senior Pakistani authorities, the undertaking has seen “numerous disturbances however the Russian side stayed focused on it knowing the way that Pakistan got structures changed a few times”.
